Move the World by Walking.
From right to left, I just walked towards the tower. Note how the foreground quickly rises relative to the background. With this awareness, I can precisely position the foreground and tower. In the right photo, I've minimized a boring gray sky, generally a good idea. If there were a wonderful cloudscape to include, I'd prefer the left composition.
Now imagine a foreground of trees and a mountain background, a classic background.
