Setting the Stage.
In the left photo, I've added a road, another strong diagonal line and icon. But what I really have is a well-designed STAGE. A place for moving subjects to pass through.
What, an SUV? Well . . . imagine bikers on a road, hikers on a trail above Zermatt, a tour boat on the Seine. You'll see.
A key to the Stage Technique: you carefully compose your stage using framing and effective use of lines and wait for the desired action to pass through. You do NOT follow the action. I also like to use a 'spot' focus, so I'm sure to focus on my desired subject.
