Basic Framing.
Several things, I put 'room view' on my trip's Shot List to remember to take certain photos, like where I stayed. I step back and make a frame. In the right photo, the difference in brightness (contrast range) from indoors to outdoors is small due to the overcast sky. Now, I can get to see inside my room, so I added a coffee-cup and chair accent.
