John's BEYOND NATURE Technique
B20c Stage B Sneffels Range Stage 87827d web.jpg

Stage Technique: Step FURTHER Back.
In the left photo, I placed an interesting subject (horse) under the mountain. In the right photo, I stepped further back and I used dynamic diagonal lines (fence) to lead the viewer into the composition, while creating a frame along the bottom.
A horizontal fence at the bottom would act only as a static frame to the scene.
The Rocky Mountains, horse and fence are all classic icons of the American West and help tell my story.
