Night Photography.
Fireworks might be one subject where a tripod is required, since exposures are about 10. seconds at f8, ISO 400. It's easy to get the fireworks to look good, the difficulty is finding a well-lit foreground underneath them. Basically, you use a 10 exposure to properly expose the foreground. Then it's easy to 'catch' several fireworks, which last 2-3 seconds each.
Another problem is knowing where the fireworks will explode in the sky, especially if you're unfamiliar with the location. Be prepared to run! Once they start, it's hard to move very far, but you can fine-tune things.
